JANUARY 2026 UPDATE:

Adal Smith’s latest book, Tale of the American Clustertruck is out now and Smith promises that this will be his most hilarious release yet. Below are a few words from the author regarding his latest book, as well as his plans for the future and recent world events:

“I’m excited that my novel, Tale of the American Clustertruck, is finally out. I started on it in late February, 2025, shortly after the release of Photographs of the Soul, and had originally intended it to be released in August. There were, however, various complications surrounding my personal life and so it just wasn’t ready until November, and it was finally released last December. I’m not upset that it took longer than I wanted however, because I needed to take my time with this release. It took time to get everything perfect (especially the ending) and if I had been able to turn it in and get it released in August, then it would not be something I could be so proud of. The story is great, the characters are all hilarious, and the overall message is something I can put my stamp of approval on. I really don’t want to say too much about the book’s plot, besides what has already been written on various sites (including this one) but I will say this: As an American citizen, I feel that something like Tale of the American Clustertruck was long overdue. Something as preposterous as a book about an author sent on an Epic Quest to save America from a mustache-twirling villain named “Fump” and his apprentice, a voodoo king by the name of “Lord Junkie,” is just the kind of story the people of the USA need to hear right now.

As for future releases, I’m currently working on a small book of 120-odd photographs I’ve taken. That should be out within the next couple of months. I have plans for two more literary projects as well. One should be out later this year, the other requires heavy research and I wouldn’t be surprised if you all don’t get to see it until middle to late 2027.

My good friend Billy Watson is taking some time off from his usual duties at Lead-Based Books to work on a few of his own projects. One in particular is a short film that I myself will play a part in. Billy doesn’t want me to say too much about it, but know that I will be playing the part of a cowboy. He’s likely to release more details about the project next month.

As for world events, well, what really is there to say? None of you reading this are blind, so you already know the horror. But I don’t want to dwell on it or to bum anybody out so I won’t dive into it too much. I will, however, say what’s important: Don’t let this current bullshit get to you. You are strong like a mountain, agile like water, and beautiful like the sun. If you give in to that bottle, that needle, those pills, that knife, then they win. Fuck that. You’re too important for that. Life is too precious for such trifling misery.
